Brooks Lodge at Katmai National Park

Overlooking the Brooks River in the heart of Katmai National Park, Brooks Lodge is one of Alaska’s most famous wilderness retreats. Iconic Brooks Falls is only a short walk from the Lodge; some fifty bears live along the mile and a half long Brooks River during the salmon season, and just 22 miles from the well-named "Valley of 10,000 Smokes". The Novarupta Volcano exploded in 1912 and buried more than 40 square miles of lush green valley under 700 feet of ash deposits creating a surreal moon-like landscape. World-class self-guided bear viewing (with National Park rangers available for questions), tours of "The Valley of 10,000 Smokes" and thrilling independent fly fishing tours depart daily. The beautiful main lodge building boasts a spectacular view of aquamarine Naknek Lake and guest accommodations feature sixteen modern rooms with private facilities.
