You’ll visit no less than 5 national parks and historic sites on this tour. Learn about Yukon and Alaska’s exciting Gold Rush history in Whitehorse and Skagway, thrill at moutain views in Kluane, view wildlife in the shadows of Mt. McKinley, gaze upon whales and sea lions and see cascading tidewater glaciers in Kenai Fjords National Park. And, experience contemporary life in two of Alaska’s largest cities; Juneau and Anchorage.
Travel Itinerary:
Day 01 - Whitehorse
Stroll along the Yukon River’s edge, visit the SS Klondike National Historic Site.
Day 02 - Skagway
White Pass & Yukon Route bus/rail tour to Skagway. Stroll Skagway’s boardwalks and visit a Gold Rush era saloon!
Day 03 - Juneau
Guided wildlife and hstoric cruise along the Inside Passage to Juneau. Whales and sea lions often seen. City tour and transfer on arrival in Juneau.
Day 04 - Juneau
Free day for optional tours. A day tour to Glacier Bay National Park to see 16 tidewater glaciers and marinelife is recommended.
Day 05 - Whitehorse
Return boat transfer to Skagway. Pick-up rental car, drive over scenic White Pass through Southern Lakes region to Whitehorse.
Day 06 - Kluane National Park
Visit Kluane, a UNESCO world heritage site and part of the world’s largest internationally protected area.
Day 07 - Kluane National Park
Kluane is home to Canada’s tallest mountain and the world’s largest (non-polar) ice cap. Optional tours today include flightseeing (recommended), a guided hike, or a guided cultural/historic cruise on Kathleen Lake.
Day 08 - Tok
Easy drive along the famous Alaska Highway. Stunning views to West of Kluane and Wangell St. Elias National Parks. Cross Alaska border.
Day 09 - Fairbanks
Continue along last leg of Alaska Highway. A visit to the University of Alaska Museum is a must. Creamers Field is also worth a visit; sandhill cranes and the rare whooping crane feed the field in summer.
Day 10 - Denali National Park
Sure to be a trip highlight, Denali is home to North America’s tallest peak (Mt. McKinley 20320ft).
Day 11 - Denali
Wildlife tour. Caribou, moose, grizzly bears, wolves and Dall sheep often seen.
Day 12 - Anchorage (area)
Alaska’s largest city offers an amazing array of activities to choose from.
Day 13 - Seward
Marine-life cruise in Kenai Fjords National Park; view whales, sea lions, dolphins.
Day 14 - Anchorage
Return to Alaska’s largest city. Enjoy last minute shopping and sightseeing. Tour ends on checkout Day 15.
