Drive The Dalton Trail
4 days and 3 nights

Drive the only highway in Alaska to cross the Arctic Circle in vehicles specially designed for gravel road conditions. The Dalton Highway stretches 414 miles from the Elliott Highway north of Fairbanks to the oil camp community of Deadhorse, which serves the Prudhoe Bay oil fields, through some of the most beautiful and lonely scenery in Alaska.

Travel Itinerary:

Day 01 - Fairbanks - Coldfoot
Coldfoot. Begin your drive north on the Steese and Elliott Highways. Experience the first gravel road of your journey as you cross onto the Dalton Highway. Stop for lunch at the Yukon River Camp, then proceed up to the Arctic Circle, 200 miles north of Fairbanks. Then it’s a short drive into Coldfoot. Stop in at Coldfoot Café for dinner or have a ‘cold one’ in the Frozen Foot Saloon.
Hotel: Coldfoot Camp

Day 02 - Coldfoot - Deadhorse
Continue north and enjoy the landscape of the Brooks Mountain Range. Galbraith Lake, north of the Brooks Mountain Range, is a great stop for a picnic, pictures, or hiking. Caribou and musk-ox are often spotted in the area. Finish your trek to Prudhoe Bay by driving through the Arctic Coastal Plain. Arrive Deadhorse.
Hotel: Arctic Caribou Inn

Day 03 - Deadhorse - Coldfoot
Travel out through the oilfields to the Arctic Ocean on a shuttle bus, dip your toe in the Arctic Ocean! Start back south to Coldfoot in the afternoon.
Hotel: Coldfoot Camp

Day 04 - Coldfoot - Fairbanks
Finish your adventure at a relaxed pace. As an option, take the short drive north of Fairbanks to Chena Hotsprings for a relaxing dip. Arrive back in Fairbanks for check-in by 12:00 AM, midnight. End.
