Take
a scenic floatplane flight Northwest along the Arctic Coast to historic
Herschel Island Territorial Park, the Yukon’s only coastal island.
Herschel Island has been home to the Inuvialuit people of the Western
Arctic for thousands of years and more recently was the wintering-over
location for the Arctic whaling fleet in the late 1800’s. During the
flight, you’ll pass over traditional summer fishing and hunting camps

Once
landed on the island you’ll experience its rich past Inuvialuit
traditional uses and learn about the whaling station and tour the RCMP
outpost. Later you can hike at your leisure exploring Territorial
Park’s community site, the coast line or uplands. Spectacular scenery,
abundant and unique plant life, numerous Arctic bird species, caribou,
grizzly bears and Arctic foxes are found together on this unique island
and one of the most remote outposts of Canada. Duration: 4-6 hours
